New Delhi: Congress Attacks Centre Over Student Protests
In a fresh attack on the Centre over student protests against the alleged irregularities in the recent examination, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded the sacking of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Gandhi issued the demand soon after meeting the protesting students, calling for action against the Union Education Minister and also suggesting his replacement from the Council of Ministers would be necessary.

“The Union Education Minister has to be sacked…we would raise the issue and take further actions against him at the centre,” Rahul Gandhi said, as reports emerge following the extensive protest by student, academic, social and political groups across several cities over allegations of paper leaks and examination malpractices in the recently conducted competitive exams for entry to the civil services, engineering, medicine and public employment sectors.
At the heart of the students' demands for accountable leadership, it goes beyond just this examination and just this minister - and demands rectification and assurance regarding recurring issues faced by thousands of applicants preparing to prove themselves and forge a future.

Rahul Gandhi, who has already heavily criticized the government regarding these discrepancies, backed the student protests by lending a listening ear and supporting their cause after meeting them. He reiterated that the students had three primary, non-negotiable demands in place and specifically endorsed their call for the education minister to be held accountable. Gandhi Rules Out 'Reshuffling' Union Minister on the Pretext of a Cabinet Reshuffle
One of the crucial demands that Rahul Gandhi highlighted was to shift Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan if a cabinet reshuffle is on cards. “Shuffling him (Pradhan) to another ministry won't do. He has to be sacked,” Gandhi stated.
He made it clear that the merely changing his ministry will not be acceptable to students or address the core issues and he has to resign immediately.
