Raghav Chadha Demands FIR Against Bhagwant Mann as Sikh Gurus Video Controversy Deepens
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has launched a fierce attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of fabricating a forensic report to cover up a viral video allegedly showing the CM disrespecting Sikh Gurus.
Chadha, who parted ways with AAP nearly two months ago, stated that the Sikh community across the country is deeply hurt and outraged over the matter.
Chadha Calls for Resignation and Prosecution
Speaking to news agency ANI, Chadha said that any lingering doubts about whether the controversial video was real or AI-generated have now been put to rest, given AAP's alleged move to procure a fake forensic report.
"Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party had to fabricate a forensic report to conceal the actual desecration video. The entire Sikh community — the Guru Nanak Naamleva community — is hurt, angry, and enraged today," Chadha stated.
The BJP MP went a step further and demanded a thorough investigation into how the alleged fabricated report was obtained, questioning which government officials were involved and whether public money was misused or laundered in the process.
"Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann should resign. Under the new sacrilege law, the first FIR and the first prosecution should be against Bhagwant Mann himself," Chadha said firmly.
What the Viral Video Claims
The controversy surrounds a viral video that allegedly shows a man — claimed by some to be Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann — pouring alcohol over a photograph of Sikh Gurus. AAP has consistently denied these claims, maintaining that the person in the video is not Bhagwant Mann and that the video itself is fake or AI-manipulated.
Gurugram Police Arrests Two, Investigates Punjab Officials
The controversy took a dramatic turn when Gurugram Police arrested two individuals suspected of creating a fabricated forensic report that had previously declared the viral video to be fake. Police sources revealed that the accused allegedly received ₹10 lakh for preparing the false report, and that Punjab government officials may have been involved in arranging it.
Adding to the controversy, Gurugram Police claimed to have obtained CCTV footage showing two Punjab Police officials visiting a local hotel, allegedly to arrange the fabricated report. Authorities are now preparing to summon the officials for questioning, with the possibility of arrest if concrete evidence is found against them.
Bhagwant Mann Denies All Allegations, Blames Political Rivals
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has strongly denied all accusations, calling the viral video a politically motivated fabrication. He alleged that the BJP, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal have joined hands to tarnish his image by exploiting religion.
"For the past few days, my fake videos have been released amid dirty politics. When they don't find another way, they try to defame me using religion," Mann said in a video statement.
Mann also claimed that forensic experts had examined 1,191 frames from the video and found no match with his physical features or mannerisms. He alleged that opposition parties were pressuring forensic lab owners into retracting their original findings.
"It is not me in the viral video, but an actor who looks like me. A well-planned conspiracy was hatched to defame me," he asserted, while directing Punjab Police to identify and arrest those responsible for the alleged smear campaign.
Akal Takht Summons CM, Orders Social Boycott
The controversy has also drawn the attention of the Akal Takht — the supreme Sikh temporal authority — headed by acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj. The Akal Takht summoned Bhagwant Mann over the alleged incident and directed the Sikh community to socially boycott the Chief Minister until the matter is resolved.
Political Flashpoint in Punjab
With Gurugram Police actively investigating the forensic report fraud, AAP firmly defending the CM, and opposition parties including the BJP demanding his resignation and arrest, the Bhagwant Mann viral video controversy has rapidly escalated into one of Punjab's most politically charged crises in recent times.
