What was initially believed to be a tragic trekking accident at the historic Lohagad Fort near Lonavala has unravelled into one of the most chilling murder cases to emerge from Maharashtra in recent times. The death of 25-year-old Pune businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal, now confirmed by police to be a premeditated murder allegedly carried out by his own fiancée, has left the nation stunned — and Bollywood actress Hina Khan is among the many who have spoken out about the disturbing case.

Hina Khan Breaks Her Silence

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Hina Khan shared a heartfelt and deeply emotional reaction to the case. Without naming anyone directly, the actress reflected on how difficult it has become in today's world to simply tell the truth — and how that difficulty is now costing innocent people their lives.

She wrote that in today's time, speaking the truth and hearing it has become so difficult that people are even willing to take another person's life to avoid it. She added that it seems easier for some people to end a life than to simply accept and face the truth — a statement that resonated deeply with thousands of her followers who have been following the case closely.

Her reaction was widely shared online, with many agreeing that the tragedy could have been avoided had the truth been spoken at the right moment.

Who Was Ketan Agarwal?

Ketan Vishal Agarwal was a 25-year-old director of the family-run real estate firm Success Group, based in Pune's Lodha Belmondo in Gahunje. A well-educated young man, Ketan had returned to India in 2023 after completing his Master's degree from the prestigious FW Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and had joined the family business with ambition and promise.

By all accounts, he was a young man at the threshold of a bright future — engaged to be married and deeply committed to his family and career. His death at such a young age has devastated his family and shocked all those who knew him.

What Happened at Lohagad Fort

On June 18, Ketan visited Lohagad Fort near Lonavala along with his fiancée Siya Goyal, as part of her birthday celebrations. When Ketan did not return, Siya initially told the police that he had accidentally slipped and fallen while taking photographs near the edge of the fort. Her account led authorities to register an accidental death report, and the matter seemed to be a heartbreaking but straightforward tragedy.

However, as the investigation deepened, the story began to fall apart.

A Chilling Investigation Unfolds

Police soon arrested Siya Goyal and her close friend Chetan Chaudhary on suspicion of murder, and the details that emerged were nothing short of chilling. Investigators discovered that Siya and Chetan had been in a secret relationship for over a year and that Siya had reportedly tried in various ways to avoid going through with her engagement to Ketan.

Ketan's family, speaking to the media after the arrest, revealed that while they had never doubted Siya until now, they were beginning to recall certain red flags in the days leading up to the tragedy. Most alarmingly, they pointed to an earlier incident on the very same Lohagad trek route, during which Siya had allegedly pushed Ketan — an act she had explained at the time as a desperate attempt to save him from a snake nearby.

The Hoodie That Gave It Away

A key breakthrough in the investigation came through CCTV footage captured near the foothills of Lohagad on the morning of June 18. Investigators spotted a suspicious figure dressed in a hoodie with his head fully covered and wearing headphones — unusual clothing choices given that the temperature that morning was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius.

Dinesh Tayade of the Lonavala Rural Police confirmed that this suspicious figure was later identified as Chetan Chaudhary. Further investigation revealed that Chetan had deliberately left his mobile phone at his Kondhwa residence before heading to Lohagad, an apparent attempt to avoid being digitally traced to the location on the day of the murder.

The combination of CCTV evidence, the secret relationship, and the suspicious behaviour of both accused has led police to conclude that the murder was carefully planned and executed.

A Nation in Shock

The case has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with people questioning how a young man celebrating his fiancée's birthday could be pushed to his death by the very person he trusted most. Social media has been flooded with condolences for Ketan's family and demands for swift justice.

Hina Khan's reaction captured what many are feeling — that none of this needed to happen. A single honest conversation, a moment of truth, could have changed everything. Ketan Agarwal's life did not need to end on a fort in Lonavala. And yet, it did.

The investigation is ongoing and further developments in the case are expected in the coming days.
