Pat Nibin Maxwell died in a missile attack near an orchard in north Israel’s Margaliot yesterday. Two other Kerala natives, Paul Melvin and Bush Joseph George from Idukki, were injured in the same attack and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Israel.
The Israeli embassy in India has denounced the ‘cowardly terror attack’ perpetrated by the Shia terror organization Hezbollah on peaceful agricultural workers tending to an orchard. Naor Gilon, Israel’s ambassador to India, has personally reached out to Maxwell’s brother, offering him all necessary assistance.
Pathrose, Nibin’s father, revealed that the 31-year-old had joined his elder brother in Israel. ‘After working in Muscat and Dubai, he returned home briefly before heading to Israel. Initially, it was my elder son who went there. A week later, my younger son followed suit,’ he explained.
Pathrose Maxwell received the news from his daughter-in-law, who called him around 4:30 PM on Monday, informing him that Nibin had been injured in the attack and was hospitalized. Later, at around 12:45 AM, they received the devastating news of his death.
The grieving father mentioned that Nibin leaves behind a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, while his wife is seven months pregnant with their second child.
Plans are underway to bring Nibin’s body back to Kerala, a process expected to take four days due to necessary paperwork and formalities.
