Amidst the stunning scenery of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a series of transformative infrastructure projects on Wednesday, painting a vivid picture of progress.
The ceremony marked the start of several ambitious endeavors, including the impressive Outer Harbor Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port, charming lighthouses gracing the coastline, and the pioneering Green Hydrogen Hub Port, with a total investment of ₹17,300 crore.
Addressing the eager crowd, PM Modi spoke passionately about the idea of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ highlighting how Thoothukudi’s journey mirrors a broader narrative of advancement for the entire nation. The unveiling of the Outer Harbor Container Terminal was hailed as a symbol of India’s maritime strength, set to elevate the country’s standing in global trade. At the same time, a range of initiatives were launched to transform the port into a leading Green Hydrogen Hub, ushering in a new era of sustainable development.
Before the official inauguration, PM Modi took a stroll through an enlightening exhibition showcasing the innovative Green Hydrogen Hub, showcasing India’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The event reached its climax with the historic launch of India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under the Harit Nauka initiative, marking a significant step towards cleaner energy solutions.
Additionally, PM Modi unveiled a variety of amenities at 75 lighthouses scattered across ten States/UTs, blending modernity with tradition. He also inaugurated national rail projects aimed at doubling the capacity of the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line, promising better connectivity and economic growth along the route.
