A mysterious blast at a popular eatery in Bengaluru injured several people.
An explosion took place on TODAY at a popular eatery at Rameswaram Cafe in Rajajinagar area of Bengaluru city. According to police officials, the cause of the fire was a cylinder burst. No casualty has been reported so far, however, a Kannada news agency reports that five people were injured in the incident.
The victims – believed to include three cafe staff and a customer – were taken to hospital.
The cause of the explosion at the Rameswaram cafe is not clear. Authorities suspect that the fire was caused by a cylinder burst. Initial reports are that an unknown object kept inside a bag exploded inside the restaurant. A policeman at the scene told Reuters that a bomb squad was on its way to investigate.
We received a call that a cylinder had exploded at Rameswaram Cafe. We have reached the spot and are analyzing the situation,” officials at Whitefield fire station told ANI.
Television footage showed minor damage to the cafe premises as police and fire officials cleared the crowd that had gathered after the blast. Police and firemen have reached the spot.
